Supervisory Special Investigator for Humane Law Enforcement

The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA)

Chief Humane Officer for Animal Planet Network

Annemarie Lucas is a Supervisory Special Investigator for Humane Law Enforcement (HLE) at The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA). She has been with the organization for 10 years, and has been their spokesperson for 3 years.  Annemarie is currently the star of Animal Planet's top rated, award winning, reality series, Animal Precinct, which is in its 5th season. She was recently named Animal Planet's Chief Humane Officer.

Growing up in Connecticut, Annemarie had a love for animals and always wished that there were “animal police” to protect them from harm. After she graduated from the University of Connecticut, she moved to NYC with aspirations of becoming an actress, but soon realized that her passion for animals was stronger than anything else. She began her new career as a volunteer in a local animal shelter, but always felt that she could do even more.

“The most gratifying part of my job is rescuing animals from a bad situation and eventually seeing them placed into loving homes,” says Lucas. “People have to be held accountable for being cruel to animals. That is where I step in – to make them accountable.”

Annemarie, has received training from both, the New York City Police Department (NYPD) and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). She is a state certified instructor, and considered to be an expert in the field of animal cruelty investigations. She also tours the country teaching other law enforcement agencies and animal professionals, about animal cruelty investigations.

Annemarie and her husband share their home with five dogs and eight cats.
