MADERA

A Heartfelt Welcome To WoofStock  Newcomer ……. MADERA

Madera started performing at age 16 as a solo acoustic act after studying voice with a well reknowned teacher, Kermit Finstad, at Gettysburg College who instructed some well known artists such as Linda Ronstadt.  Although self taught on guitar, she decided to further her skills by studying with a well respected local musician  who had many years of experience performing and opening for national acts such as "KIX".  Coincidently, later on in her career, she continued vocal training with Steve Whiteman, the lead singer of the band KIX who scored a #1 hit with the song "Don't Close Your Eyes" in the late '80's. She gained alot of local media attention from her involvement with the Civil War reinactments performing extensively in Gettysburg and further on to Harrisburg's Strawberry Square as well as repeat performances at Ft. Ritchie, an army base in Waynesboro, PA.. She continued on as a solo act for many years until joining her first rock band, an all female act named "Precioius Cargo." After the band split up only after a short time, she continued on as a lead singer in rock/pop bands in the area. After taking a break for awhile she returned to her roots as an acoustic act though this time teaming up with a talented acoustic performer, Chris Schoeberg, who has many years of experience playing the East Coast and continues on to play as a solo act after Madera and he parted ways. Once again, she dropped out of the music scene, feeling discouraged, but then met her soul mate and became engaged.  "He encouraged me to get back into music again and start recording my original material."  While working on a deal with a friend he knew to record a few of Madera's songs, Brian, her fiance' , died suddenly and unexpectedly. She has now re-joined the music scene as a way of coping with her loss and to see through the dreams they shared but were never realized before he passed. She now performs under his last name as a way of honoring him and keeping his memory alive. His dreams of her recording her original material have come true and she has been blessed to work with the original drummer, Jeremy, of the band, Breaking Benjamin, whose cd went platinum during the time that Jeremy played drums for the band. She now records at "After Seven Studios" in Mechanicsburg, a new state of the art recording studio and works with engineer, Jason Shaffer, an accomplished musician as well. "After Brian died I swore I'd never fall in love again but I did. With music.
