“I play the Blues… and everything else… that’s my motto!” Jimbo Sage exclaims with a smile! “You see that’s where the Rock n Roll, the Folk and the Country music all started… with the Blues.”

Jimbo should know a little more than most about the blues. He has spent the last 20 years of his life living in South Mississippi. A five year hitch in the Air Force sent him there, he liked it and he called it home. He bought a house and raised his family in a quaint little town called Pass Christian, located right on the coastline of the beautiful Gulf of Mexico. Life was slow and easy until a monster storm named Hurricane Katrina came to wash away everything in it’s path. Jimbo packed up his kids and headed back to Pennsylvania to start a new life. With help from family and friends he has started over and is now available to play his music and share his stories…
“The Blues and everything else!”

Jimbo Sage earned his title as “The Future Legendary Bluesman” while entertaining customers at a barbecue joint called The Shed in Ocean Springs, Mississippi. It was here on every Sunday afternoon that his original Salad Bowl Drum caught the attention of music lovers. Jimbo’s invention of a “portable porch” to stomp out the driving beats of his songs proved to set him apart and to earn him notoriety as a true original performer.

When The Shed organized it’s First Ever Shed Head Blooz Festival in 2004, Jimbo Sage was asked to open and share the stage with Big Joe Turner, Dewayne Burnside and Jimbo Mathus. He has also appeared onstage at the Mississippi Coast Coliseum during the 2005 Summer Fair and Expo and was featured at The Shed Tsunami Relief Concert that raised money for the Americares Foundation to provide free medical supplies.

A typical performance by Jimbo Sage features a sonic gumbo of American musical styles from the early twentieth century to the present. With his gritty voice, manic finger picked guitar, harmonica, brass metal slide and stomping Salad Bowl Drum, Jimbo’s own original tunes mix with songs by Robert Johnson, Muddy Waters, and John Lee Hooker. Country and Folk music songs written by Johnny Cash, Roger Miller, Leadbelly and Bob Dylan are faithfully recreated. Jimbo’s acoustic versions of Rock n Roll classics by The Who, Led Zeppelin and The Rolling Stones always please and surprise.
